The stars of the ritual are the massive "Otebi" torches, measuring approximately 4.5 meters in length and weighing over 200 kilograms.

For Guests Considering a Stay on the Day of the Otebi Ritual

The Otebi Ritual is open for anyone to observe freely. Each year, it welcomes many tourists alongside local community members.
We recommend walking from our hotel to Nunakuma Shrine, which takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for warm weather. As it is a summer festival, temperatures remain quite warm even after sunset.
At the venue, blazing torches may pass close to spectator areas, so please enjoy the event safely.
